The Rocky Point Fire Department on Long Island’s eastern North Shore, about 65 miles east of New York City, provides fire and ambulance service to about 30,000 people. Its district covers about 48 square miles, including Rocky Point, Shoreham, the Incorporated Village of Shoreham, a 6,800-acre New York State Forest Preserve and seven miles of Long Island Sound beachfront, served from three stations. Rocky Point Fire Department Company #1 is a chartered and incorporated fire department and ambulance company, and the department answered more than 2,400 alarms in 2025.
