The Mountain States Foundation in Johnson City, Tennessee, was the fundraising arm of Mountain States Health Alliance, a not-for-profit health system that operated a family of hospitals across a 29-county region. It worked to advance quality health care by linking friends with Mountain States and supported causes important to people in Northeast Tennessee, Southwest Virginia, Western North Carolina and Eastern Kentucky, such as cancer financial assistance. In February 2018 Mountain States Health Alliance merged with Wellmont Health System to form Ballad Health, and the foundation’s work continues through the Ballad Health Foundation.
