The Mahwah Municipal Alliance in Mahwah, New Jersey, was established in 1985 under then Police Chief Samuel Alderisio, whose substance abuse program brought trained police officers into Mahwah classrooms to teach about tobacco, drugs and alcohol, conflict resolution and positive decision making. Today the 501(c)(3) is a group of community volunteers working with the Mahwah Police Department to address social and mental health issues, inspire young people in character and courage, and offer programs such as parent coaching, a Junior Police Academy and child car seat installation. Its annual vehicle raffle is its main fundraiser.
