
La Salle Institute in Troy, New York, is an independent Catholic college preparatory school for boys and girls in grades 5 through 12. It was founded in 1850 by the Brothers of the Christian Schools to educate immigrant students in South Troy, was chartered by the New York State Regents in 1891, and added its military training program that year. Today it enrolls about 540 students and has twice been named a National School of Excellence by the U.S. Department of Education.
