The Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra in Grand Junction, Colorado, traces its roots to the Mesa College Symphony of the 1930s and was founded in 1978, along with the Grand Junction Musical Arts Association. Its mission is to engage and enrich the community through symphonic music. The largest professional orchestra between Denver and Salt Lake City and the largest arts organization in the Grand Valley, it performs classical, chamber and pops concerts, mainly at the historic Avalon Theatre, gives a free summer outdoor concert, and runs education programs that reach nearly every elementary school in Mesa County.
