The Gilmore Car Museum in Hickory Corners, Michigan, tells the history of America through the automobile. It grew out of the vintage car collection Donald S. Gilmore began in the early 1960s. His wife Genevieve had the idea of turning the collection into a museum, and the couple set up a non-profit foundation that opened it to the public on July 31, 1966. Today it is North America’s largest auto museum, with more than 400 vehicles on display and over 209,100 square feet of exhibit space on a 90-acre historic campus.
