The Friends of the Norwalk Foundation, Inc. in Martinsburg, West Virginia, is a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit chartered in September 2008 to acquire and preserve a 1914 Norwalk Underslung Six, the only known surviving car of the Norwalk Motor Car Company, which built cars in Martinsburg from 1912 into the late 1910s. Billed as “The Car of Absolute Exclusiveness,” the Norwalk rode on 40-inch wheels and a 136-inch chassis and cost $3,100 when a Ford Model T sold for $250. With help from donors the foundation brought the car home, and it is now on display at the Washington County Rural Heritage Museum.
