Camp Good Days and Special Times, based in Mendon, New York, works to improve the quality of life for children, adults and families whose lives have been touched by cancer or sickle cell anemia, through residential camping and year-round programs. Gary Mervis founded it in 1979 after his nine-year-old daughter Teddi was diagnosed with a brain tumor. It was the fourth organization of its kind in the United States and the first started by a lay person, and it is accredited by the American Camp Association.
