The Big Sister Association of Greater Boston served girls in the Boston area from 1951, working to ignite girls’ passion and power to succeed through positive mentoring relationships with women and enrichment programs that supported their healthy development. It aimed to create a mentor-rich community in which every girl had the nurturing, guidance and support she needed to become a confident, competent and caring adult, and it was seen as a national model for gender-specific mentoring. In early 2025 it merged into Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Massachusetts, which took on its programs, partnerships and mentoring matches.
