The Bakerville Library is a small community library in New Hartford, Connecticut, housed in a former two-room schoolhouse built in 1834. It began in 1949, when Barbara Yedlin went door to door with her son’s little red wagon collecting books from her neighbors, and in 1951 the collection moved into the vacant schoolhouse after the new Bakerville Consolidated School opened. Proceeds from its car raffles help the library keep up with operating costs and improve its historic building.
