Baypath Humane Society of Hopkinton, MA is excited to announce their 2009 Prius for Pets Car Raffle. In partnership with Bernardi Toyota, Baypath will raffle off a new 2009 Toyota Prius. Tickets are currently on sale both online and at the shelter, 5 Rafferty Road, Hopkinton. The raffle drawing will be held on November 1, 2009, at Baypath’s First Annual Paws & Claws 5-K Run/Walk event at Hopkinton State Park.
The Prius awarded will have an MSRP value of $22,988. The winner will be able to choose from the colors available at that time. To increase the odds of winning, Baypath will sell no more than 1,200. Tickets are $50 each, and multiple, discount ticket packs are available.
Baypath is asking the public not only to assist in the success in this event by purchasing a ticket, but to assist the shelter in selling tickets as well. Baypath needs volunteer ticket sellers who can create their own personal web pages via the web-based tool on Baypath’s website. Despite the struggling economy, Baypath decided to move ahead with this event in hopes that it can provide some much-needed revenue for the shelter. The shelter, like so many others, has had to face rising costs of our business, including heating, supplies, behavior modification and medical care for our “guests”. Over the past year Baypath has treated animals with a variety of medical ailments such as heartworm, lyme, pneumonia, eye problems and FIV, just to name a few. In addition, we have invested in some intense training programs for some of our longer resident dogs with special behavioral needs in order to help them reach their potential before finding their ‘forever homes.’
Baypath chose a Prius because it is large enough to be used as a small family car, but trendy enough to pique serious interest as a car raffle prize. Only a few months ago, there were long waiting lists at dealerships across the country to purchase a Prius, most notably because of their high gas mileage, and in general they are viewed as an environmentally-conscious car. The Prius is rated five stars by J.D Power & Associates on both Overall Mechanical Quality and Green Efficiency, and is listed as a Top Pick in the ‘Best Compact’ category.
In the event Baypath is unable to sell enough tickets to merit giving away the car, the raffle will be converted to a 50-50 cash prize, where the money raised will be split between the winner and Baypath. Baypath will use 100% of the net income for charitable purposes as general operating funds.
Established in 1977, Baypath Humane Society of Hopkinton is a no-kill dog and cat shelter. During 2008, Baypath placed 1,037 animals into new homes. Baypath is a 501(c)3 organization, a non-profit who receives no funds from state or local governments or other organizations. Baypath amasses all funds via adoption fees, donations from the community, our own fundraising efforts.
