The Carmel High School Marching Band from Carmel, Indiana has been invited to participate in the 2014 Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California. This is a prestigious honor and a once in a lifetime opportunity for over 250 band members. Most marching bands can only dream of someday marching in the Granddaddy of them all, the Rose Parade. The Marching Greyhounds have worked very hard to earn this invitation but they won’t be able to get there without your help. The Carmel High School Band Boosters have partnered with long time band sponsor, Dreyer & Reinbold BMW Mini to raffle off a car.
The Carmel High School Marching Greyhounds are defending ISSMA (Indiana) State Champions, having previously won in 1991, 2001, and 2002. The band is also the defending Bands of America Grand National Champions. They have been BOA Grand National Finalist 17 times and were named Grand National Champions in 2005.
The Carmel High School Marching Greyhounds have had the honor of participating in some very prestigious events and locations. They were invited to perform in the 2004 London New Year’s Parade in London, England. In 2007 they were invited to play on the USS Missouri, and also with Hawaii’s Royal Band. And most recently they had the honor of participating in the 2011 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Carmel High School also boasts 6 concert bands and 4 jazz bands, which are known for their quality on the state level and have won State titles in the past. The top concert band, Wind Symphony I, is the defending ISSMA state champion. Previously it was invited to perform at the Bands of America National Concert Band Festival two times and also performed at the prestigious 2005 Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago.
The total band program boasts enrollment of almost 500 students each year.
