ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot, Austin, Texas;
ThunderCloud Subs is a neighborhood sub shop with a rich tradition of good-natured people serving fresh, fast, and healthy food in a quirky and fun atmosphere. Andy Cotton and John Meddaugh founded ThunderCloud in 1975 with the simple philosophy of selling a great sub at a reasonable price. We proudly maintain that core philosophy today.
The ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot, Austin, Texas, one of Austin’s most beloved Thanksgiving traditions, started in 1991 with just a handful of volunteers and 600 participants. Today it has grown to be the largest 5 mile run in Texas, with more than 700 volunteers and over 20,000 participants from all over the U.S. and beyond.
Not only is it a great way for families to have fun together on Thanksgiving, it’s an event that you can really feel good about being a part of. All proceeds from the race go directly to Caritas of Austin, a non-profit that works to prevent and end homelessness in the Austin community. To date, the Turkey Trot has raised nearly $4.1 million for Caritas.
