V8s for Vocations, Gallup, New Mexico;

The Rev. Matthew Keller started the V8s for Vocations project by restoring a donated ’72 Chevelle SS in 2014. It was raffled in 2016 to provide scholarships for seminarians to become priests for the Diocese of Gallup. The Diocese is the poorest in the United States, and creative ways to sustain the life in the Diocese are much needed.

All proceeds support the education and formation of seminarians who will return and serve in the Diocese of Gallup, the poorest in the United States. The Diocese of Gallup serves predominantly Native American and Hispanic populations across New Mexico and Arizona. Due to persistent financial difficulties, it does not own a seminary, and thus is obliged to send seminarians to another state or overseas, ensuring that future priests receive the education they deserve. This effort is a costly one, and creative projects such as the V8s for Vocations allow the Diocese to keep fostering vocations for the future of the Catholic Church.

V8s For Vocations is managed by a non-profit 501 c 3 organization. Gifts are tax deductible.

The V8s for Vocations July 2026 Raffle Grand Prize: - a 1962 Chevy Corvette Convertible 327 V-8 (Fed Tax Paid) - Red and White 327 c.i. numbers matching V8 with approximately 65,000 original miles, a rebuilt 4 Speed manual transmission, black leather interior, wonder bar radio, black soft top and newer chrome five spoke Crager wheels - We are excited to bring you this classic 1962 Chevrolet Corvette soft-top convertible to help celebrate the Centennial of Route 66 and raise money to support seminarian education in the Diocese of Gallup - We will draw the winning ticket on Saturday, July 25, 2026 in Gallup, New Mexico - As always, tickets are just $25, you need not be present to win, and "We pay the taxes!" - (posted 3/28/2026) -
