Rockbridge Area Hospice, Lexington, Virginia;
Our founders – Marion Brown, Charlotte Gunn, Helen Hodges and Barbara Tucker.
It started at a kitchen table in 1983. Four women began what is now the Rockbridge Area Hospice. From one patient, and income from bake sales, their effort has grown to support all of Rockbridge County.
Our mission is that Rockbridge Area Hospice will treat, comfort, and provide supportive care for terminally ill patients and their families to enable them to live life fully.
Years ago, WD Goad and his friends got together and decided to do a car show which would benefit Rockbridge Area Hospice (RAH). Goad’s Body Shop, along with Kenney’s, first hosted a car show as a fundraiser for Rockbridge Area Hospice in 2008. In 2019, car enthusiasts from as far away as Alabama displayed and admired over 800 vehicles and raised over $100,000 for RAH. WD’s cruise-in efforts have raised approximately $450,000 for RAH over the last decade. In 2021, we lost our longtime friend and supporter, WD Goad, To honor his memory, we hosted the first WD Goad Memorial Truck Raffle, raffling off a brand new 2021 Ford-150 pickup truck on 12/21/2021.. ?This year, we plan to continue the legacy Goad left through the 2nd Annual WD Goad Memorial Truck raffle, raffling off a 2022 Ford Ranger Lariat.
