The V Foundation, Cary, North Carolina, was founded in 1993 by ESPN and the late Jim Valvano, award-winning basketball coach and commentator. 100% of direct donations go to cancer research and programs. The V Foundation’s endowment covers administrative expenses. The V Foundation supports cutting-edge research of all types of cancers affecting adults or children. The V Foundation awards competitive grants through a process vetted by a Scientific Advisory Committee. This committee is comprised of the nations top doctors and scientists in cancer research. The V Foundation has awarded nearly $290 million in grants to more than 154 institutions in 40 states, as well as in Canada.
