( * )2014 Custom Built Corvette Stingray

( * ) Online sales are now closed, please contact a South Richmond Rotarian for in person ticket sales up to the night of the drawing, March 8th, 2014.

The Rotary Club of South Richmond, Virginia, which was organized and chartered on 11 March 1953. Of the original twenty-two charter members, one is an honorary member and one is still an active member in the Club. Over the years the Club has met at a number of locations in the South Richmond area and moved its meetings to Willow Oaks Country Club in 2012.

The Rotary Club of South Richmond is part of the Rotary International District 7600. It is unique in that one of its honorary members and two of its active members are Past District Governors. Two of them served in that capacity when the District covered all of Virginia east of the Blue Ridge Mountains and one served after the District was split, the current District 7600 covering all of South Eastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore of Virginia. In all, there are now fifty-nine Rotary Clubs in this District and its office is located in Virginia Beach .

The Rotary Club of South Richmond has a long history of supporting local, District and world-wide charities and programs. In addition to providing at least $130,000 each year for local charities, as decided by its active Charity Committee, it also raises, from its members, $15,000 to $17,000 per year for the Annual Giving campaign for the Foundation of Rotary International. In the 1980s member Mel Burnett gave $50,000 to the Club to begin an Endowment, the income from which was to be used for unique educational purposes. This Endowment now holds assets totaling about $310,000 and it provides, from its income, the ability to award grants totaling up to $15,000 per year for that purpose.

The Rotary Club of South Richmond's FIRST Annual Charity Car Raffle Giveaway

( * ) Online sales are now closed, please contact a South Richmond Rotarian for in person ticket sales up to the night of the drawing, March 8th, 2014.

Grand Prize: 2014 Corvette Stingray:

The drawing will be for building and ordering your own custom 2014 Corvette Stingray through Criswell Chevrolet in Gaithersburg, MD with $60,000 credit at the dealership provided through the raffle.

The grand prize drawing will take place at a Casino Night Charity Event on March 8, 2014 at the Science Museum of Virginia. The Casino Night will be a return to South Richmond Rotary roots with heavy hors d'oeuvres, cocktails, table games, horse races, 50/50 cash raffle, a silent auction and an awards ceremony for the top gamers. The evening will end with the raffle drawing for the 2014 Custom Built Corvette Stingray.

The proceeds of the car raffle and the Casino Night will benefit local and international charities as well as local scholarships for area high school students. The South Richmond Rotary annually donates over $150,000 to charitable causes.

The Families of the Wounded Fund (FOTWF) is a charity that raises money to enable the families of wounded servicemen and women to come to Richmond while their loved one is being treated
at Maguire VA Hospital. Maguire is only one of five VA hospitals that specializes in treating severe head and spinal cord injuries.
As you probably know, because of IEDs, these are the most frequent wounds suffered by our military in Iraq and Afghanistan. Unfortunately, our government does not assist these familiesin any way to help them come and be with their wounded loved ones. The doctors at Maguire say having family by their side is the best medicine these hero's can get.

The raffle is being conducted by the Service Foundation of the South Richmond
Rotary Club and as such is tax deductible as a 501(C)(3 ) charity.
