Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton parish was established on June 6, 1978 by Bishop Thomas J. Mardaga. In the early days, the founding members worshipped in the Pleasantville Elementary School. In 1980 the community moved to a new multi-purpose facility on the parish grounds off Route 7 in Bear. In response to the rapid growth of the area, the building was expanded and additional classrooms added in 1985.
Father Clemens Manista was appointed the second pastor in 1985. With the continued growth of the parish, plans were developed under his leadership for a new church to accommodate the growing community. On February 1, 1998 Bishop Michael Saltarelli dedicated the new church, the result of many years of hard work, commitment and sacrifice.
