NAIDCharities is a non-profit organization providing analytic and information services to the no-kill initiative based on a proprietary database of potential pet owner information. The technology services will be provided by an internal systems group within the charity, leveraging a National Animal Information Database (NAID™).
With a portfolio of data lookup, statistical modeling, marketing and notification services NAIDCharities tackles the problems faced by animal shelters directly by drastically decreasing the time any pet spends in a shelter, thus freeing up space in crowded animal shelters and reducing, or even eliminating, the need to euthanize. With fewer animals to maintain, shelters can better utilize their resources and budget to care for the animals within their facilities.
The fundamental challenge facing animal shelters today is their use of a ‘pull model’ to inform the public an animal is available for adoption. The shelters rely on a small percentage of the populace to stumble upon their facility, in person or online, to discover the perfect pet for their circumstances, and then choose to adopt. Services such as Pets911® attempt to make this process easier by allowing the shelters to list their animals in one central online location, but still rely on the populace to discover the pets. NAIDCharities’ approach is to provide a ‘push model’ for placing pets in homes, using its proprietary technology to identify potential owners for a displaced pet and then contact them directly to inform them of the pet’s availability.
