Since 1967, Herbert Hoover Boys & Girls Club (HHBGC) has been providing a safe place for children to learn and grow. Our mission is to inspire and enable youth ages 6 to 18 to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens. Founded on the site of historic Sportsman’s Park, former home to the St. Louis Browns and Cardinals baseball teams, the Club is a source of hope and opportunity for more than 3,500 youth.
The Club is open during hours that kids are most likely to need a safe place to go — after school, on Saturday and extended hours during the summer. Nationally recognized programs help youth succeed in school, stay healthy, pursue interests in arts and sports, and explore career choices. Membership fees are kept low to allow any child the opportunity to join. An annual membership costs just $25 — and that includes free dental and vision care!

The Club operates at full capacity, 48 weeks a year, six days a week during the school year and five days a week during the summer. The average daily attendance is 500 youth. Forty-six board members, 54 full and part-time staff and 350 volunteers work diligently to create, implement and sustain programming that nurtures the growth and self-esteem of members. Volunteers donate more than 25,000 hours of their time annually.
