Our mission is to provide our military veterans diagnosed with PTSD and TBI another method of healing through service dogs and training. Through our programs, we seek to help heal visible and invisible wounds, provide families with new beginnings, and raise awareness about the potential of shelter and rescue dogs everywhere.
We work with rescue organizations, shelters, animal control agencies and humane societies. We believe that many mixed breed and rescue dogs make wonderful service dogs and provide a mutually beneficial relationship with a veteran living with PTSD and/or TBl. By Doing this we are Rescuing One to Heal Another.
Service Dogs can perform a variety of tasks for their handler for the handler to have a fuller life with fewer symptoms. Service Dogs can do things such as turning on lights, providing a safe space in public, waking their handler from night terror, reminding their handler to take medication and so much more.
Blue Star Service Dogs is taking action to combat mental health stigmas and veteran suicide, one dog at a time.
