Prize Details

Larz Anderson Auto Museum Annual Car Raffle Grand Prize:
- 1948 Willys CJ-2A -

All proceeds of this raffle benefit the Larz Anderson Auto Museum.

Willys-Overland produced over 350,000 Willys MB’s, better known as “Jeeps,” for the U.S. war effort during WWII. As the war drew to a close, Willys-Overland started thinking about a way to develop a civilian version to market to the public. In 1945, Willys began to mass-produce the CJ-2A, one of the first civilian vehicles to be equipped with four-wheel drive. The CJ-2A looked very similar to its military predecessor, but there were a few key differences. The CJ-2A has flush mounted headlights, a seven-slot grille, and a T-90 transmission to replace the MB’s T-84. The “Go-Devil” engine, which proved itself in WWII, was carried over for the CJ-2A.

Thanks to Tom Larsen's incredibly generous donation, this well-preserved 1948 Willys CJ-2A, is now being offered as our 2017 raffle car.
