Raffle Benefits

Proceeds from the raffle will benefit ProStart and RAMEF’s Scholarship programs. The ProStart program is a high school culinary and hospitality management curriculum that also requires 400 hours of paid industry work experience in order to receive a ProStart National Certificate of Achievement. Students completing the ProStart program are qualified to enter the workforce in positions above entry level and are on a fast track to management careers. ProStart is endorsed by the Maryland State Department of Education and also prepares students for post secondary education at culinary schools and hospitality management programs. There are currently over 4,000 high school students in the program in Maryland.

The Marcia S Harris Legacy Fund, the Letitia B Carter Scholarship Fund and the Co-Branded Scholarship with the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation are also managed and awarded through RAMEF. So far in 2009 over $30,000 in scholarships were awarded to Maryland students and industry professionals.

The top prize is a 2010 Mercedes Benz C300 from Valley Motors, with $10,000 and $5,000 as second and third prizes respectively. When you purchase a ticket you will receive a $25 gift certificate from all of the following restaurants (there’s no need to choose, you get them all!):

The Restaurant Association of Maryland Education Foundation

The Restaurant Association of Maryland Education Foundation (RAMEF) serves as the preferred source of education, training, resources and research for Maryland’s hospitality industry. RAMEF is the educational arm of the Restaurant Association of Maryland and has the mission of Improving the Hospitality Industry through Education.

RAMEF pursues its mission three ways – Professional Development for those currently working in the industry, Workforce Development for the future by encouraging young people to pursue careers in the hospitality industry and through Scholarship Programs helping people pursue higher education in hospitality & food service management and culinary arts.

Professional Development – raising the level of education of those already in the industry

Workforce Development – providing opportunities for young people to pursue hospitality careers and their dreams of “owning their own restaurant” or becoming the next “top chef”.

Scholarship Programs – helping people meet the financial needs of higher education and their ongoing professional development.

Grand Prize is the beautiful 2011 Audi A3 or $25,000 in cash! On top of that there are additional cash prizes of $10,000 for second and $5,000 for third!
