In 1973 Casa de los Niños was founded by Sister Kathleen Clark in answer to her dream of creating a safe haven for children in crisis. The tragedy of child abuse she witnesses in St Mary’s emergency room compelled her to create Casa de los Niños, the first crisis nursery in the country. Since then many more crisis nurseries have been built across the country using Casa de los Niños as the model.

Casa de los Niños has extended a helping hand to children and families in need. Committed to preventing child abuse and neglect, our shelter and family services have provided aid, comfort and support to over 50,000 children & families in Pima County . The International Motor Racing Research Center, located in Watkins Glen, NY, is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2008. This one-of-a-kind facility is supported entirely by donations from enthusiasts committed to preserving the heritage of motor sport and receives no support from federal, state or local sources. The Center’s core collection includes more than 3,000 reference books, as well as hundreds of films, race posters and programs, periodicals, club records and thousands of photographs.

The mission of the International Motor Racing Research Center at Watkins Glen is to be the world-class leader in the collection of materials representing the documentary heritage of amateur and professional motor racing, highlighting Sports Car, Formula 1, NASCAR, and vintage and Historic racing. The Ohio Cobra Club is holding this raffle to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Cystic fibrosis is an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the United States (70,000 worldwide). A defective gene and its protein product cause the body to produce unusually thick, sticky mucus that:

• clogs the lungs and leads to life-threatening lung infections; and
• obstructs the pancreas and stops natural enzymes from helping the body break down and absorb food.

In the 1950s, few children with cystic fibrosis lived to attend elementary school. Today, advances in research and medical treatments have further enhanced and extended life for children and adults with CF. Many people with the disease can now expect to live into their 30s, 40s and beyond.

Since 1955, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has been the driving force behind the pursuit of a cure. Thanks to the dedication and financial backing of our supporters–patients, families and friends, clinicians, researchers, volunteers, individual donors, corporations and staff, we are making a difference.

Raffle Car

LCS ’09 raffle car is well on its way! Being built by The Ohio Cobra Club, Inc. and Mark Dougherty.

The 2009 London Cobra Show raffle car will be a Factory Five replica of the Type 65 Daytona Coupe driven to victory, in the GTIII class at Lemans in 1964, by Bob Bondurant and Dan Gurney. Our goal is to make it as close to the original car as possible, but using all new parts and technology available to us now.

There were just six original Daytona Coupes built in 1965. Despite the fact that the design never entered production, those six cars won the 1965 World FIA Championship for America. In addition to its racing heritage, the Coupe is one of the most unique and stunning shapes in automotive history. The only words we have to describe the way the car looks as it drives by is dramatic.

When a Coupe drives past, everything stops… Little kids cover their ears, old ladies frown, and every real car guy everywhere share a thumbs-up salute to a genuine lord of internal combustion excess.
