WGTE of Toledo, Ohio is more than TV and radio program producer and broadcaster—WGTE is a center of learning and education. We were founded as an educational institution, and our educational mission remains at the heart of what we do every day.

From our entertaining, informative and educational programs that air on WGTE TV and FM 91, to our professional development opportunities for K-12 teachers and preschool day care providers, WGTE helps to make Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan a better place to live!

The good people over at Children’s Memorial Hospital are back again for their 13th Annual Car Raffle. Theybring another amazing raffle to the table this year with eight cars!

The 13th Annual Car Raffle is underway to benefit the patients and families cared for at Children’s Memorial Hospital. Supported by the Corporate Champions Board of Children’s Memorial and members of the Chicago financial community, the car raffle, now in its 13th year, has cumulatively raised more than $3.2 million for the programs and services that benefit the patients of Children’s Memorial.

Children’s Memorial Hospital, Chicago, is recognized as one of the top pediatric hospitals in the country by rankings published in U.S. News & World Report and serves as a major regional referral center. Its physicians are on the faculty at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine. The hospital is currently engaged in the Heroes for Life campaign to raise a minimum of $600 million to help create Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and support its medical and nursing professionals, programs and research. As a not-for-profit organization, Children’s Memorial relies on philanthropy to help provide care to 126,000 patients and their families every year.

Raffle Prizes

This year’s raffle prizes include a 2009 BMW 328i coupe, BMW 328i sedan, BMW 128i convertible, Mercedes C300 sedan, Mercedes SLK 300 convertible, Land Rover LR2, choice of two Mini Coopers (convertible, hardtop or clubman) or $40,000 in cash (pre-tax). Tickets are $100 each and only 7,000 will be sold. The winning tickets will be drawn on Friday, July 31 at noon at UBS Tower. The winner need not be present to win.

The good folks over at Dobbs Ferry School Foundation are back yet again with their 8th annual Car or Cash raffle! Since its creation in 1994, the Dobbs Ferry Schools Foundation has raised over $4.5 million through individual contributions,as well as public and private grants. Started by a handful of dedicated parents, the DFSF is now a working board of close to 50 community members who partner with the faculty and staff of the district.

The DFSF Board selects programs for funding that support the strategic goals of our district. Whether the programs target a specific grade or an entire school, the end result is a stronger, richer community of learners. From technology to the arts to reading, writing and arithmetic, the DFSF supports diverse programs that advance student learning.

The Restaurant Association of Maryland Education Foundation (RAMEF) serves as the preferred source of education, training, resources and research for Maryland’s hospitality industry. RAMEF is the educational arm of the Restaurant Association of Maryland and has the mission of Improving the Hospitality Industry through Education.

RAMEF pursues its mission three ways – Professional Development for those currently working in the industry, Workforce Development for the future by encouraging young people to pursue careers in the hospitality industry and through Scholarship Programs helping people pursue higher education in hospitality & food service management and culinary arts.

Founded in 1937 by conductor Robert Whitney and Charles Farnsley, then Mayor of Louisville, the Louisville Orchestra has long been recognized as the cornerstone of the Louisville arts community.

A full-time, 71-member ensemble offering a wide variety of concert series to the community, including classical programs featuring world-renowned guest artists, lighter classical and pops performances, and education and family offerings, the Orchestra is also the resident performing group for the Louisville Ballet and the Kentucky Opera.

The Louisville Orchestra also performs concerts and provides educational programming throughout both Kentucky and Southern Indiana.

In 1919 Edgar Allen founded what became known as the National Society for Crippled Children, the first organization of its kind.  In the spring of 1934, the organization launched its first Easter “seals” campaign to raise money for its services.   The lily – a symbol of spring – was officially incorporated as Easter Seals’ logo in 1952.  By 1967, the Easter “seal” was so well recognized, the organization formally adopted the name “Easter Seals.”  Easter Seals assists more than one million children and adults with disabilities and their families annually through a nationwide network of more than 450 service sites.
