The Lions Club of Rochester, MI. is holding this Camero Raffle to benefit Leader Dogs for the Blind. Founded by three Detroit area Lions Clubs members in 1939, Leader Dogs for the Blind provides dog guides to people who are blind and visually impaired to enhance their mobility, independence and quality of life. Each year, over 270 students attend our 26-day residential training program to be paired with a dog guide. This is a life-changing event that opens the doors to independence, safety and self-worth for many of our students.

In addition to our dog guide program, we offer programs that enhance a person’s independence and quality of life in other ways, including Accelerated Mobility, Trekker GPS training, computer courses and seminars for Orientation and Mobility professionals. Currently, Leader Dog is the only facility in the Western Hemisphere to teach Deaf-blind students to work with a dog guide.

Thanks to generous donations from our supporters, all of our services are provided free of charge to students, including room and board and travel to and from our campus in Rochester Hills, Michigan, for students living in North America.

“As it was then, so it is now. The Camaro, born more than 40 years ago as Chevrolet’s reply to the pioneering Ford Mustang, is coming out of retirement (since 2002) for a new fight with the namesake ponycar. It’s set to bow for 2010 in two coupe models–V6 and V8. The V6 cars will be offered in LS or LT trim, and the V8 is dubbed SS. The LT and SS models will be available with a RS appearance package that includes HID headlamps with integrated halo rings, a rear spoiler, specific taillamps, and 20-inch wheels. Convertible versions join up about nine months later. Chevrolet recently confirmed these plans after splashy concept previews at the 2006 and ’07 Detroit Auto Shows. Unfortunately the chances are pretty high that you know of someone who has been affected by breast cancer. The PA Breast Cancer Coalition was formed in 1993 by a dedicated, active and effective group of breast cancer survivors who had one common mission, and that was to find a cure for breast cancer. Every program, event and campaign is still carried out with that goal in mind. Today, we arethe source of action and information for Pennsylvania Women with breast cancer, and their families.

The PBCC is a statewide organization based in Ephrata, Lancaster County, with a board of directors, a staff of seven, and a network of volunteers across the state. The PBCC exists to help the 9,500 women in this state who will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year, to support the families of the 2,200 women who will die from it, and to serve as a resource for the hundreds of thousands of more women currently living with the disease.

We accomplish this through statewide educational programming, legislative advocacy and breast cancer research grants. You can learn much more about the PBCC, and how YOU can get involved, throughout our website listed below.

The Center for Enriched Living was born in 1968, when two mothers approached a social worker at a local social service community center, asking for help in finding after-school programs for their children with developmental disabilities. With the social worker’s assistance, the two children were then integrated into programs at the community center. As these programs evolved, they began to include social and independent living activities for people of all ages with special needs and a primary disability of mental retardation.

In 1984, The Center became an independent agency and incorporated with 60 members attending programs. After moving to numerous facilities to accommodate its exponential growth, The Center embarked on a capital campaign in 1996 to raise funds for the construction of a new home. The result of that effort came to fruition in 2000, when The Center moved into its own facility in north suburban Riverwoods. This state-of-the-art complex includes a gymnasium, fitness room, arts-and-crafts room, teaching kitchen, computer lab, auditorium, practice apartment and accessible garden. This building allows The Center to serve more people with mental retardation, developmental disabilities or other special needs in a greater variety of programs.

At The Center, we provide opportunities so that our members can acquire new skills for social inclusion and independent living. Due to the fact that the majority of our members are at/below the federal poverty level, The Center keeps fees low for program participants and also offers scholarships. We believe that mental retardation, developmental disabilities and special needs are not deterrents to a well-rounded life.

The Parent Auxiliary Board of Southminster School is pleased to announce this year’s Gala, Denim & Diamonds, on Saturday, April 9th, 2011.

This year’s theme, Denim & Diamonds, will provide the opportunity to celebrate together, raise funds for the school, and wear your favorite jeans and boots! That’s right…it’s OK to break out your best blue jeans for this gala…and ladies, don’t forget the BLING – rhinestones and other embellishments are strongly encouraged!

The evening will offer a wonderful dinner, yummy dessert, fabulous auction items and dancing to the music of Group Therapy.

So if you like to celebrate with style – if you want to kick up your heels, show off your spurs and flash your fanciest denim – this is one event you won’t want to miss!

Our district consists of 60 wonderful Rotary Clubs nestled in the mountains, lakes, and rolling  woodlands of Southern New Hampshire and Southern Vermont. Each club is comprised of business and community leaders of character and capability networking their vocations to advance their careers, grow their companies, build their communities, and bridge continents.
