How to sell Raffle Tickets
Part 1
You've
got the car, you've got the tickets printed up and you're ready to
go. Now what? You've got to sell those tickets! There are a hundred
ways to do this but below are a few methods that seem to work.
The more tickets you can sell, for the least amount of advertising
money (hence this is a free site!) the better. Take advantage of the
fact that you are holding a chairty/good cause raffle and simply ask
for help. You'll be amazed how people will help you out.
Contact/visit
the local Police and Fire station. Let them know about the raffle.
These guys are always good for charitable events – especially for
kids. Ask them to help you!
Contact any and all local car clubs
in your area – ask for a phone list, email list or mailing list. These
are car guys that are often very involved in charitable causes. If
the club is holding a car show see if you can bring the raffle car
to the event and sell tickets right there! Ask them to help you!
Contact
local clubs in your area - Rotary, Elks, VFW, Garden Clubs, Shriners,
etc. Also if there is a local motorcycle club, like a H.O.G. (Harley
Owners Group) chapter – these guys are usually very involved with
charity events. Ask for their help with your cause.
If your organization
is a school or other such large group print out a letter about the
raffle, with a picture, and send it home with every kid/member of
the group, to give to parents, friends and co-workers. This works
well with flyers as well. Everyone in your group puts up a flyer in
their office, break room, place of business.
Visit local Real
Estate offices. Calling won’t do much good – you’ve gotta go there.
(I’m actually a Realtor myself here in Hilton Head, SC.). Tell them
right off the bat your holding a raffle for charity and see if they’d
like to participate. Realtors are always looking for a way to get
involved with the local community. See if you can piggy back on their
marketing. Maybe a company or individual Realtor will put your raffle
on their weekly mailings, in their open houses, on their website,
etc.
Contact your local churches and other faith based organizations.
See if you can get them to print it in the bulletin or announce it
at the end of a service. It’s for charity! Also see if they
would allow you to offer tickets after a mass. Bake a whole bunch
of cookies and offer a free cookie with each raffle ticket purchase
– something along these lines. Ask them to help you!
The above should be used right along with the tried and true system
of giving everyone in your group 20 raffle tickets and telling them,
"Go sell these!." But at the same time think big! Radio! TV!
Large Groups of people! Let others help you out - you'll be amazed
at the reponse if you walk up and ask!
Hope
this helps and if you've got more ideas on great ways to sell raffle
tickets let me know. I'll keep adding to this list as the ideas come
in!
Thanks and good luck!
