In recent years, the ALZ BBQ and Car Drawing has grown to unforseen heights, and staff at the Brevard Alzheimer’s Foundation have worked tirelessly to make this fundraiser a huge success. This event now gains the attention of thousands throughout the year at different events, and by reaching out on the Internet. The past few ALZ BBQ’s have had over 2,000 donors in attendance to enjoy BBQ, and watch the event live. With all the bbq you can eat, free soda, beer, and water; this has turned into one of the largest fundraisers in Brevard County. The Superbird has become quite valuable. A Superbird can fetch anywhere from $300,000 to $2,000,000. At Barrett Jackson, bids for original Superbirds crossed $1,200,000.

Kentucky Opera was founded in 1952 by Moritz von Bomhard and designated the State Opera of Kentucky in 1982. Operas were presented in the Columbia Auditorium until 1964 when they moved to the Brown Theatre. Holy Name Catholic Church has been operating for 100 years. In 1910, three nuns, Sister Antoinette CSJ, Sister Benedict CSJ, and Mother Genevieve CSJ came to Ebensburg, PA to teach in a newly built four room school erected at the site of the present building. Students leaving Holy Name School possess a knowledge of God, academic content and thinking skills that enable them to function in a global world. Student enrollment is nearly 300 in 2010 from a beginning of 87 in 1910.

Saint Elizabeth Church is a Roman Catholic church located on Wood Street in Bristol. The church is led by Rev. Jared J. Costanza. The parish offers CCD, confirmation, bible study, baptisms, wedding arrangements, a Portuguese prayer group, Eucharistic adoration, reconciliation and daily mass in English. On Sunday, mass is held in Portuguese at 7:30am and noon.

In addition to church services, Saint Elizabeth Church hosts a variety of events within the community throughout the year. Events include an annual holiday bazaar, Halloween party, New Year’s Eve gala, charity clam boil and a carnival at the Bristol Town Common.
